Everything started in a marginal and dangerous neighborhood of Paris. A handful of painters, interpreters, writers and musicians moved there. The idea, live spending little and avoid the bourgeois center of the capital of France.
Toulouse-Lautrec (Albi, 1864 - Château Malromé, 1901) and the Parisian district of Montmartre are two indissoluble entities. The painter, illustrator, draftsman, poster designer and lithographer was a witness and participant; Montmatre the social and cultural engine. In the streets, cafes and cabarets of Monmartre in the late nineteenth century, there was a creative explosion driven by young artists and intellectuals who challenged the established, with a way of life, bohemian, and a style of avant-garde art that had a fundamental role in the development of modern art. Toulouse-Lautrec is a key figure of the time for his artistic production and because he became the link between the artists and intellectuals of Montmartre. It is this unintended work of relationship that wants to highlight "Toulouse-Lautrec and the spirit of Montmartre".
This exhibition consists of more than 350 works from international loans from public and private collections.
