The European Museum of Modern Art, MEAM, belongs to the Foundation de les Arts i els Artistes, whose objective is the promotion and dissemination of figurative art of the twentieth and twenty-first century.
The MEAM differs from other contemporary art museums in supporting figurative artists whose works are not usually exposed in other museums, collections or institutions to which the concept of contemporaneity is more identified with experimentation, abstraction and video art. After its inauguration in 2011, the MEAM has managed to influence large sectors of international contemporary art. In addition to the permanent collection, this museum organizes temporary exhibitions and other events such as concerts, plays, courses, and painting and sculpture workshops.
The MEAM is located in the Palau Gomis in the streets of the Born district of Barcelona, a neighborhood where culture is always present and where the charm of the old part of the city is perceived. It is also an area that has known how to combine tradition and modernity. And if you like museums, consider visiting the Picasso Museum, as it is only 45 meters from the MEAM.
