The Barnasants Canción de Autor cultural project was born in 1996 with the aim of promoting singer-songwriters' songs (mainly in Catalan), embodying the spirit and values of the nova cançó movement. Ultimately it is to promote it among the younger generations and thus create a bridge of communication with previous generations, and encourage transmission and listening.
The event takes place in several venues and in several towns. The dates below refer to the concerts that will take place in Barcelona and Hospitalet de Llobregat, the cities where they will perform.
About the 2025 edition of Barnasants
The 2025 edition of the singer-songwriter festival BarnaSants will be held under the slogan "el perro la diñó, la rabia se quedó" (The dog died, the rabies remained), in reference to the 50th anniversary of the death of the dictator Franco. This edition once again stands out as one of the essential events for lovers of singer-songwriter music. The program brings together leading artists from different generations and styles, consolidating its reputation as a space for artistic and social reflection through music.
Among the most relevant names are Pi de la Serra, a key figure of the Nova Cançó, who opens the festival at the Auditori de Barcelona, and Maria del Mar Bonet, commemorating the 50th anniversary of her performance at the Olympia. The lyrical and committed force of Marina Rossell also promises to thrill with her proposal 300 crits.
On the other hand, the festival includes tributes to historical references such as Mikis Theodorakis and Joan Baez, the latter by Montse Castellà. In addition, the international presence is enriched by figures such as Nano Stern, the voice of the new Chilean trova, and Cuban Carlos Varela, who presents his show Nada es como antes.
The local representation is not far behind: Cesk Freixas, on his farewell tour, and Anna Roig, reinterpreting the chanson, are bets that stand out for their sensitivity. Other outstanding performances will be those of Javier Ruibal and his Saturno Cabaret and Les Kol-lontai with their feminist proposal Adelerades.
BarnaSants 2025 will combine nostalgia, vindication and avant-garde, leaving its mark on the cultural scene.
