MACBA presents a great retrospective of the work of the American-Cuban artist Felix Gonzalez-Torres (born in Cuba in 1957 and died in Miami in 1996, due to complications derived from AIDS).
Although it is a retrospective, Felix Gonzalez-Torres. Politics of the relationship places the artist's work within the postcolonial discourse and the connected histories of Spain and the American continent, especially when they affect issues such as memory, authority, freedom and national identity. The exhibition emphasizes the reading of Gonzalez-Torres 'work in relation to Spanish, Latin American and Caribbean culture, and also highlights the formative influence of Gonzalez-Torres' work on queer aesthetics.
The ticket includes a visit to the temporary exhibitions and the MACBA permanent collection.
