The 2024 edition of the Festival dels Clàssics
In this year's edition, the Festival dels Clàssics celebrates the second centenary of the Bernat Metge collection, focusing on the theme of Nature. The question of what human beings are like in their natural state and the big question of whether we will be able to save nature will shape the entire content of the festival, which will run from October 22nd to December 22nd. It will be three months of theater, dance, conferences and music in emblematic spaces of the city. An interrogation launched to the past and present, to classical and contemporary authors, to explore what and who is nature.
The Bernat Metge Collection
The Bernat Metge collection was launched in 1923 with the publication of Lucretius' book De la natura. This primordial work of Epicurean physics influenced philosophical, scientific and literary thought from Antiquity to the Renaissance and beyond. It influenced scientists such as Galileo, Giordano Bruno or Isaac Newton; philosophers such as Karl Marx, Nietzsche or Thomas Hobbes; and writers such as Voltaire, Milton or Montaigne. De la natura is a classic work of great power, which has endured over time.
La Casa dels Clàssics

La Casa dels Clàssics is the entity responsible for the edition of the collection "Bernat Metge" and organizes since 2019 the Festival Clàssics and other events such as seminars, walks and conferences.
