The European Museum of Modern Art hosts the exhibition of the winning works in the Lohengrin international painting competition, organized by the Wagner Club, the MEAM and the Fundación de las Artes y los Artistas, in collaboration with the Gran Teatre del Liceu. You will see 49 pieces and the four award-winning paintings: "The Charm of Ortrud and the Dream of Elsa" by DeAngelo; "Thought for the Study of a Square" by Juan Gil; Carlos Saura's "Lohengrin"; and "Lohengrin y Elsa" by Mikel Olazábal.
In April 2019, on the occasion of the world premiere at the Liceu of a new production of Richard Wagner's opera, "Lohengrin", directed by his great-granddaughter Katharina Wagner, an international painting competition was organized around the famous opera by the composer . Due to the pandemic, the opera was canceled, as well as the exhibition in the Foyer of the Theater that was to show the works selected by competition. After passing through MEAM, the exhibition will be exhibited at Wagner's home in Bayreuth and in Leipzig, the hometown of the German composer.
To see the exhibition you have to buy general admission, so you can access the museum's permanent collections.
