The 20th of December marks the 20th anniversary of the opening of Cinemes Méliès in Barcelona. On the occasion of that anniversary, from 19 to 25 December they will offer a reduced ticket of € 3 for all sessions and will distribute 1,000 gifts among the spectators. The Méliès Cinemas, founded by the film director Carles Balagué, have always been committed to classic cinema, European cinema, alternative and premiere. They are more than 300 film released until now of the great masters of the celluloid. The history of Méliès cinemas has been recognized for its contribution to the cultural heritage of Barcelona with several awards such as the Sant Jordi Prize (1996) and the Barcelona City Prize (2003). The year 2011 the cinema suffer a fire and closed temporarily until January 5, 2012. The Méliès Cinemas are part of the International Confederation of Cinemas of Art and Rehearsal (CICAE) and the network of Europa Cinemas.
