RetroBarcelona is a trip to the recent past of videogames and technology. And if we talk about technology, the recent past is prehistory. Do you remember how fast asteroids moved when they broke apart and the dangers of hyperspace?
RetroBarcelona, a non-profit event organized by the Retro Barcelona Cultural Association , was born out of nostalgia, but also out of love for those machines and videogames with which we had and continue to have such good times.
About the 2024 edition of Retro Barcelona
The 9th edition of RetroBarcelona comes preceded by the award they won in 2023 as best retro video game fair. RetroBarcelona is a journey back in time to the 80s and 90s that will feature numerous activities this year such as conferences, exhibitions, tournaments, sales, indies area, guided tours, Photo Calls and more than 250 original gaming booths. As a novelty, this year they have created subscriptions to be able to enjoy the event all weekend at a reduced price. Remember that admission is free for children under 5 years old.
What will you find in RetroBarcelona?
At this fair you can play a few games, buy items to expand or complete your collection and, above all, share experiences with all those who are passionate about the classics.
Game's zone
Amstrad, Spectrum, Commodore, Atari, Amiga ... Do they ring a bell? Arcades and Pinballs from the 80s and 90s, classic video consoles (forget about Nadal and Djokovic, wherever there is a good electrotennis match...), and new and canceled games for classic systems. Look, touch and play.
Video Game Museum
This area is for viewing only. The new Mutecvi Association (Technological Museum of Videogames), presents devices from its museum of the history of videogames. You will be able to contemplate the first game console in history, the Magnavox Odyssey , the first Nintendo game console and the first Sega game console . Also curious Pong consoles and even Spanish game consoles. If in the last edition they commemorated the 30th anniversary of the mythical SEGA Mega Drive , this year it will be the turn of the Nintendo portable: the Game Boy, it has turned 30 years old.
Exhibitors
The area of the fair to buy. Game consoles, microcomputers, video games, arcades, t-shirts, hama beads, books and other merchandising items. You will also find stands of small developer studios that want to publicize their games.
Official tournaments
Tournaments like foosball, Super Smash Bros or Super Street fighter II Turbo GMC, where you can win consoles, books and much more. Participating is free.
And all this seasoned with talks, conferences and podcasts.
