In the seventies, Joan Miró and Josep Royo created seven monumental tapestries, one of them for the banking entity ”la Caixa”. The objective of the commission was to compose a work from an iconic element that would serve as the entity's corporate image. The result was a five-pointed star that became the logo of La Caixa (now Caixabank) and its foundation.
Now, 41 years after its creation, the tapestry that contains the star is in the process of being restored, and the interesting thing is that you will be able to witness the restoration live to understand how environmental conditions affect the fibers of the tapestry, and to learn the history of the star
The tapestry restorers will be working from March 29 to April 22: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Tuesday and Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. During this period, there will be an educator available to answer questions regarding the exhibition. And if you are interested in delving deeper into the matter, until May 21 you can register for the Visit and dialogue, from Monday to Friday, at 12:00 noon; and Tuesday and Thursday, at 5:00 p.m., where you can enjoy a half-hour discussion with the restorers.
