Festival
New CCCB festival on popular culture and subculture, directed by Kiko Amat, whose objective is to accommodate proposals that by definition are excluded from the parameters of high culture or academic culture: marginality, outsiders, subculture, low culture and lowbrow art, in the form of weird comics, harsh humor, urban music or proletarian or popular literature. Subsol seeks coherence and points in common between what has not left the neighborhood and what is already popular at all, and is opposed to museification, rancidity, nostalgia, elitism and classism, and is in favor of populism, youth culture, the suburbs and evasion.
Subsol will be held in three sessions and three different days at the CCCB:
- The first session will take place on March 3 and will include Kike García, co-founder of the digital satirical newspaper El Mundo Today; Juarma, writer and referent of underground comics in our country, and Bebegrande, singer who moves within a mainly male environment such as drill, a style that, despite the fact that its streaming reproductions number in the millions, is almost unknown. among the general public.
- The second session will be on April 9 and we will have Chill Mafia, half in Basque and half in Spanish, half trap and half punk, who will talk about an independent phenomenon that continues to gain followers; Las chicas del viernes, Mamen Moreau, Maribel Carod, Ana Belén Rivero and Irene Márquez, will review the wildest graphic jokes of their respective careers; and Saïm, a trio from Felanitx/Manacor (Mallorca) that sings in Catalan and draws its influences from the world of Dischord/Washington DC and Touch & Go, melodic, emotional punk rock with depth.
- The third session will be held on May 12 and will bring us Peter Bagge, the author of independent comic classics such as Hate, Idiot World or Buddy and the Bradleys; Bobby Gillespie, singer, songwriter and founding member of Primal Scream; and Baya Baye, a redneck from Maresme.
