La Sagrada Familia is the chosen stage in Barcelona for the celebration of the Vienna Philharmonic's special concert, on September 18. Within the framework of a project that takes place between 2018 and 2024 and is promoted by the Fondazione Pro Musica e Arte Sacra, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (VPO) is carrying out a series of concerts in which they interpret the symphonies Complete works by Anton Bruckner in various cathedrals and in major temples throughout Europe. The concert at the Sagrada Familia, the third in this cycle, will take the Symphony number 4, "Romantic", to the temple designed by Gaudí, under the direction of maestro Christian Thielemann. This special concert will be completed with a musical piece specially commissioned by the Philharmonic from the Canadian composer Samy Moussa.
RTVE will produce the symphonic concert for the UER, and will broadcast it at 8:30 p.m. on La 2 and Ràdio 4. The day before, on September 17, there will be a general rehearsal open to the public with the intention to bring culture and the Sagrada Familia closer to the citizens of Barcelona. If you want to attend, you will have to sign up for the draw that is open to applications until September 8 at 10:00 a.m. The preview will take place in the Basilica at 5:30 p.m.
