World Press Photo changes the model of its contest this year, and divides the world into six regions to ensure greater representation and diversity of authors and stories. In addition, they have eliminated the thematic limitations of previous editions and have created new categories focused on the format. The World Press Photo of the Year Award went to Kamloops Residential School in Amber Bracken, Canada, for The New York Times.
