A Chorus Line, one of the most important musicals of all time, comes to Barcelona from Antonio Banderas. An inspiring musical, exciting, and with an electrifying choreography that originally premiered in 1975 at the Shubert Theater on Broadway, with a libretto by James Kirkwood, Jr. and Nicholas Dante, music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Edward Kleban. Directed by Michael Bennett, who also created the choreographies with Bob Avian, it became an unprecedented success by winning nine Tony Awards and the theater Pulitzer. The original production was represented for 15 years.

An empty theater, inside a theater

The plot takes place in a theater without an audience. The stage itself, without sets, is the set. A Chorus Line is a casting for a Broadway musical. What we will see on stage are the auditions of the selection of candidates. The steps of the dancers tell us stories, their stories. Seventeen have reached the final round, which will leave the eight (4 girls and 4 boys) components of the main choir. And it is at that point where the greatest interest of the musical is concentrated. To have options to enter the choir, Zach, the director, and Larry, ask each of the seventeen finalists to introduce themselves and talk about themselves. We will see then how individual personalities end up merging into a new collective identity, that of the choir that will be evident in the culminating number of the work, "One"

The Malaga actor Pablo Puyol will play the role of Zach, a role that Antonio Banderas assumes in the functions in Malaga. A production by Antonio Banderas, Teatro del Soho CaixaBank and John Breglio.
