The Sagrada Familia invites you to feel and share the Christmas spirit with three activities aimed at all audiences: the Christmas workshop, the traditional Christmas concert and the illumination of the Nativity façade.
Children's Christmas workshop
This workshop adapted for children from 6 to 12 years old and their companions, which takes place in the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia, is divided into two parts: in the first part, the Basilica is visited with special attention to the details of the Nativity façade, which explains the coming of Jesus into the world. In the second part, the youngest members of the family will participate in a craft workshop in which they will make a traditional ornament called a paper wafer, which reproduces motifs and scenes of Christmas, and which was used to decorate the churches of Catalonia.
The workshop will be held on Saturdays and Sundays in December, and on November 30 and December 6, 23, 24, 27, 30 and 31, with sessions at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm to be held in Catalan or Spanish, depending on the time and day.
Recommended age: 6 - 12 years old.
Price: 8,00 €.
Each child must be accompanied by a maximum of two adults.
Christmas Concert
Day: December 13.
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Christmas carol recital
Two choirs from the Lluïsos de Gràcia association: the Coral El Virolet (group of 7 to 9 year-olds and 9 to 15 year-olds) and the Coral Sinera (group of 15 to 25 year-olds), will offer us a repertoire of traditional Catalan Christmas carols and Christmas songs from around the world. The two choirs will perform in front of the Nativity façade separately and together.
Day: December 16.
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Illumination of the Nativity façade
The Nativity façade is the only one that began to be built when Antoni Gaudí was still alive. This façade symbolizes the joy for the birth of Jesus but also the illusion and the joy of living. During the action, the different sculptural groups of the façade are illuminated, and with background music, the different scenes of the arrival of the Son of God are narrated, explaining the symbolism of each one of them.
Days: December 20 to 22.
Time: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Price: free of charge

Christmas Eve Mass at Sagrada Familia
Since my husband and I can not travel to Spain this year, we would like to know if the Christmas Eve Mass at Sagrada Familia is video recorded or streamed live; and how we might view it from the United States. Any information on this is appreciated.
Christmas Eve Mass at Sagrada Familia
Hello Sarah,
There is a mass in the morning on Christmas Day at the Sagrada Familia, but not the day before. Usually only some of the Masses considered extraordinary are broadcast and it is indicated on the Mass calendar. Here is the link to access the mass calendar. If a mass is broadcast in streaming, it has to be indicated there.
Greetings and merry christmas!
