We're told that hardcore is characterized by short, direct songs, but for Damian Pink Eyes Abraham, that definition is insufficient. He argues that this genre is flexible enough to accommodate extensive and epic narratives. This is evidenced by the grandiose punk operas created by Fucked Up and their willingness to collaborate with a wide variety of artists, including Owen Pallett, J Mascis and the enigmatic Mary Margaret O'Hara. If you feel disoriented by this mix of styles, don't worry. Simply make your way to the front of the stage, and as you feel Damian's literal onslaught, you'll remember that, despite the Wilsonian harmonies and hints of salsa disco, Fucked Up continues to dominate pogo territory relentlessly.
This purely physical experience will be repeated on November 19 at the first Fucked Up concert in Barcelona in four years. Their return to the city will take them to La Nau, taking advantage of the fact that two days before they will be performing at the fourth edition of Primavera Weekender in Benidorm.
