Geisha/Samurai. Memories of Japan offers visitors a comprehensive view of 19th century Japanese life through important examples of ukiyo-e prints, such as Hokusai's The Wave, period photographs, and objects such as samurai armor and kimonos. The West has always had a great fascination for Japanese culture, which in recent years has been nurtured through art and literature.
Japan is traditionally associated with the fantasy of the Far East, the unknown, and with a culture in which the taste for delicate beauty and the balance between nature and spirit stand out. The exhibition displays more than 200 pieces organized in 6 sections: Theater; Geisha; Shunga. Images of Spring; Netsuke, Kakekomo and period photographs; Culture of War; and Samurai.
Geisha/Samurai. Memories of Japan is curated by Ferrán López Alagarda, president of the Spanish Federation of Antique Dealers.
