Mercat de Mercats, gastronomy of proximity

From October 18 to 20, Plaça de Catalunya will be the setting for the thirteenth edition of the Mercat de Mercats Fair, the big party celebrating Barcelona's markets, sustainable consumption and local products. The center of Barcelona will be filled with the most outstanding products from local market traders, who will be joined by local restaurants and producers. There will be a wide variety of workshops, music and activities related to gastronomy and markets.

Gastronomic offer and activities

During these days, local market traders and restaurateurs will offer a sample of the best local products, accompanied by music, barbecues and activities for the whole family. There will be workshops, showcookings, presentations and a Children's Space with games and activities designed for the little ones.

Cooking and tasting in the heart of the city

This year, visitors will be able to enjoy a space with microwaves and barbecues to cook their purchases on site. In the food court, tapas prepared by the bars and restaurateurs of the markets will be offered, paired with local beverages such as wines, cavas and beers.

The aim of the fair is to highlight the importance of markets as economic and social engines, promoting sustainability and the consumption of local products.

Part of the Cultural Regatta 2024

The fair is also integrated into the Cultural Regatta, a program organized by the Barcelona City Council in the framework of the America's Cup sailing competition, which includes cultural, artistic and gastronomic proposals for all audiences.
