A comedy with seven actors that embodies social and popular theater. The play, directed by Pere M. Mestre, is based on a working-class revolt during a food and price crisis. The text, written by Dario Fo, will be in the Sala Gran of the Gaudí Theater from July 13 to 16.
Dario Fo represents a social, popular and even political theatre, rooted in the Mediterranean tradition. The story is based on a riot that took place in a supermarket in Italy due to a price crisis. Prices rose outrageously and basic products became inaccessible to the working class. Who would be willing to take revolutionary measures? "I'd rather starve than steal a loaf of bread," exclaims one of the protagonists.
This situation gives rise to comic situations between the characters, in a theatrical style that draws from the jester and the clown, connecting directly with the comedy of art as a form of contemporary entertainment. The cast is made up of Pepa Ramon, Lourdes Erroz, Pedro Mestre, Dominic Hull, Xim Vidal, Laura Dalmau and Jaume Sastre. A national policeman, a civil guard, an undertaker, revolted neighbors... all this will give rise to comical situations from the manual.
A play that provokes laughter, but also makes you reflect and think. A laugh that shakes the conscience.
