This exhibition is the most detailed organized until now of the work of the American photographer, Peter Hujar. With more than 150 photographs, we can see his work from the 1950s to the late 1980s.
Peter Hujar (Trenton, 1934-New York, 1987) began his career as a photographer in the 1950s in the commercial world. Closely linked to the countercultural movements of the time, he captured fragments of New York reality from the 1970s. His camera pointed to the underground sociocultural scene photographing artists and writers such as Andy Warhol, Susan Sontag or William S. Burroughs, and other anonymous characters of Downtown. The exhibition has been organized by Fundación MAPFRE Barcelona, and The Morgan Library & Museum, New York. The exhibition and its roaming were made possible by Terra Foundation for American Art.
Free entry on Mondays from 14:00h to 20:00h.
