National Geographic, in collaboration with Disney+ and Movistar Plus+, present the exhibition "SHARKS by Brian Skerry"; An event where you can immerse yourself in the world of sharks, thanks to the work, technical skill and unique passion of photographer and National Geographic explorer Brian Skerry. This photographer has made numerous explorations in the oceans to capture how this species lives, which is now in danger of extinction. The exhibition, which includes 50 photographs and videos, is only part of the result of the more than 10,000 hours that Skerry has dedicated to underwater explorations, with which, in addition to trying to capture the greatest variety of sharks, he expresses his commitment to the conservation of this species and of the oceans.
Audiences will be able to view photos of tiger sharks, great white sharks, oceanic whitetip sharks and shortfin mako sharks and understand why they are unique species and the threats each faces. It is estimated that around 100 million shark specimens are fished or hunted each year, although the figure could be higher.
The exhibition will also make it possible to learn about the ocean conservation proposals of the Pristine Seas Project , a key National Geographic initiative to protect the environment, which has been promoted together with marine ecologist Enric Sala, National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence.
SHARKS by Brian Skerry, will feature an interactive Augmented Reality zone created in collaboration with DoubleMe, where attendees will be able to live an immersive experience with Microsoft HoloLens 2 glasses to experience the sensation of being submerged next to sharks.
