Queen, the famous British rock band formed in 1970 in London, first appeared in the UK charts in 1974 with Queen II, their second album. With Sheer Heart Attack also from 1974 and A Night at the Opera from 1975, came their international success. Bohemian Rhapsody, a track included on A Night at the Opera, stayed at number one in the UK for nine weeks.
The Queen phenomenon has been a global presence in popular culture for more than 25 years. It is one of the world's best-selling bands and has received numerous notable awards including the Brit Award in 1990 and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. Queen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, and as each member had composed hit songs all four separately were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003.
