La Mercè - Barcelona's festival, the highlights
During the second half of September, Barcelona celebrates every year "La Mercè", that is, its Fiesta Mayor. A Fiesta Mayor that we could define as a festival of festivals, multitudinous and popular, which in one week brings together between 1,500,000 and 2,000,000,000 people in different public spaces of the city, to follow and enjoy the many cultural, artistic and festive activities. This year's town crier will be the illustrator, painter and sculptor Carme Solé Vendrell and the guest city will be Casablanca. If you want to participate in the race of La Mercè, remember that it is held a few days before the official start of the festival. Don't miss the International Pyrotechnic Festival, which promises to be a unique and dazzling spectacle involving the latest technology and, of course, the Piromusical, which this year will feature a soundtrack selected by Rosalía.
Locked Outdoor
After a decade, Locked, one of the most prominent names in the Barcelona club scene, decides to abandon its origins to move to a more hedonistic and luminous setting: the Plaça dels Somnis in the Tibidabo amusement park.
The Festival de Cinema Jueu in Barcelona began its journey in 1999 (this year reaches its 26th edition) with the intention of making known in Barcelona the cinema and culture of Jewish theme.
Barcelona Biennial of Thought, outstanding participants
The Biennial of Thought 2024 seeks to reflect on the ideas, practices and promises that should guide the future at this time of great global transformations. This year's edition will feature the participation of prominent figures such as writer and Nobel Laureate Herta Müller, playwright Wajdi Mouawad, British author Zadie Smith and economist and anthropologist Jason Hickel.
Festival Mixtur
From October 10 to 20 we will be able to enjoy the new sound proposals that the Mixtur Festival offers us with local and international composers and performers. This thirteenth edition will also give us the opportunity to discover new emerging talents of the scene and participate in educational and family activities.
The Global Yoga Congress is an event whose objective is to bring yoga of all styles, both beginners and mid-level practitioners. And keep in mind that age doesn't matter, this congress is aimed at people of all ages.
Serielizados Fest, the most interesting
The 11th edition of the International Serielizados Fest will be held from October 14 to 23, 2024 in Barcelona, and from October 15 to 27 the official program can be enjoyed online at FILMIN. Serielizados Fest has revealed the six series that will compete in the International Official Selection of its 11th edition: After the Party (New Zealand), Dates in Real Life (Norway), Kafka (Austria), Pressure Point (Sweden), Secrets (Denmark) and Truelove (UK). These productions will be screened in person at the Espai Texas, where, in most cases, their creators, performers or artistic directors will attend.
Barcelona Design Week
Barcelona Design Week 2024 returns with the slogan "Design for Human Future" and will focus on a crucial theme: water. This edition aims to highlight how design and creativity can contribute to meet the challenge of water management and conservation, one of the most precious resources at risk due to climate change and population pressure.
SEL Week, to reconnect with nature
Pioneering event that aims to reconnect attendees with nature through sound and digital art. SEL Week seeks to raise awareness about the relationship between humans and the planet, using music and technology as tools to foster empathy between species and promote sensory creativity.
The 2024 edition of the Saló de l’Ocupació will feature 40 companies and 150 activities. Organised by Fira de Barcelona and promoted by Barcelona City Council, the event will promote career guidance and advice, promoting the sectors that generate the most professional opportunities. This year there will be 8 "market places" that will bring together 40 companies and 350 candidates in key sectors such as commerce, ICT, logistics and the social economy.
Bizbarcelona will bring together 80 companies offering products and services to support SMEs, businesses and the self-employed. The event will feature 120 activities, including conferences, workshops and consultancies focused on topics such as digital transformation, marketing, internationalisation and talent management. In addition, there will be an exhibition area with solutions for digitalisation, cybersecurity, training and more.
