This exhibition pays tribute to Allan Sekula, a photographer who had a close relationship with the post-Olympic Barcelona, a city that fascinated him as a case study. The maritime condition of Barcelona made the artist include it in the story of a globalization where appear cities such as Los Angeles, Athens, Bilbao, Rotterdam or Tokyo.

In this exhibition, the first monograph by Allan Sekula in Spain, the Fundació Antoni Tàpies shows two important work blocks in which Sekula analyzed the impact of the maritime economy on the newborn globalization of the 1990s and the new moral framework of neoliberalism of the beginning of the 21st century. Fish Story (1989-1995), a classic among the works that initiated the critique of capitalism of globalization, and Ship of Fools / The Docker's Museum (2010-2013), the work in which Sekula put his energies during the last years of life.

The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the University of Louvain and the MUHKA in Antwerp.
