Diáspora. The Colombian Film Festival of Barcelona

The Colombian Film Festival of Barcelona started in 2004 under the format and the name Diaspora: Colombia-Barcelona. For 14 years, Diaspora evolved to become a Festival in the year 2103. The project has reached 2018 consolidating itself as the first and only Colombian Film Festival of the city. Many of the films that make up his programming have previously participated in well-known festivals like Sundance, Venice, Cannes or Berlin.

Thanks to an agreement with the Cervantes Institute, the festival has been present in several cities of the world such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, São Paulo, Paris, Rome, Bremen, Bonn and Casablanca, projecting with responsibility and commitment the Colombian audiovisual world. The Colombian Film Festival of Barcelona, ​​in 2018 reaches its 15th edition, strengthening the bridge with Colombia in terms of exchanges of knowledge, reflections, co-productions, work agendas and other projects.

The 2018 Diaspora edition will be held from December 13 to 16 and from April 5 to 7, but it will offer a previous activity on October 26 with the premiere in Spain of the film "Pájaros de verano" by Ciro Guerra and Cristina Gallego. After the screening the second part of the event will be held with the round table "Biocivilization and care of the common goods of the life network, especially water, essential in the preservation of the network of life on the planet", in which will participate Calixto Suarez Villafañe, indigenous Arahuaco of the Sierra Nevada (Colombia), Sandra Campos, humanist, director of the International Seminar of Planetary Coexistence www.biocivilizacion.org, and Xavi Ayén, writer and journalist of La Vanguardia.

In the PANORAMA section that takes place from December 13 to 16, the leitmotif will be: "Colombia: cinema, literature and society", which translates into a programming of films based on, adapted or inspired by relevant literary works. Many of the films will be presented by their directors or producers.

From April 5 to 7 we will have the Diaspora contest section with awards for feature films and short films, and other activities such as industry business round tables, professional meetings and, of course, the closing gala.

The films of the Festival will be screened at Cinemes Girona (Carrer de Girona, 173).
