The Reial Cercle Artístic presents this exhibition on the artist Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, as part of the activities they have organized for the celebration of his 140th anniversary. In this initiation of the Gothic Quarter dedicated to the promotion of art, you will find a compilation of works by Toulouse-Lautrec, among which the series dedicated to the world of the circus stands out, with representations such as the clown Cha-O-Kao, the ringmaster Monsieur Loyal or the clowns foot and Chocolate. In these characters, the French artist found a way to express an art that is free from prejudice and deeply human. You can also see some of his posters and other series dedicated to Montmartre characters of the time. The drawings were edited after his death by his friend Mauricio Joyant and the art dealer Adolphe Goupil, using the bichromated rubber technique, which allows one to appreciate the outline of the line, incorporate the color and achieve an optical effect that simulates the lines of the original work.
This exhibition is curated by Rosa Perales Piqueres.
