Josep Grau-Garriga, one of the most prominent exponents of the Catalan Tapestry School, began to experiment with transdisciplinary techniques and explore larger formats from the late 1960s, beyond what was expected of conventional textile art.
His approach was focused on the creation of "environnements", which allowed the viewer to immerse themselves in the work and establish a closer link with the materials used. Through these environments, which were often created collectively, Grau-Garriga investigated new forms of artistic education that sought to bring art closer to life, generating a shared experience.
In this context, "Dialogue of Light" (1986-1988) broadens the possibilities around the production and dissemination of the textile art of the time. In addition to the main installation, this exhibition includes a selection of photographs, documents and drawings of different environments made by the artist.
Thanks to his innovative approach, Grau-Garriga became an international figure of reference in terms of the transformation of the tapestry technique during the second half of the 20th century.
