In the framework of the 16th edition of the Live Research Fair, scientists from various centers in Catalonia will leave their laboratories to transfer part of their equipment to CosmoCaixa Barcelona. The aim is to bring science closer to citizens and to promote scientific vocations among young people. To this end, scientists will invite us to participate in their projects and solve puzzles following the scientific method.
About the 2023 edition of Live Research Fair
In this year's edition of the Direct Research Fair there will be more than 100 researchers from 11 centers in Catalonia. They will be able to carry out experiments such as creating protein crystals, manipulating biological samples to observe neurons and brains affected by Alzheimer's under a microscope, discovering photonic technologies and their impact on environmental protection, among others. In addition, the Barcelona Science Park has developed a didactic proposal together with the Víctor Grifols i Lucas Foundation, entitled "Where should humanity go?", which presents three bioethical challenges regarding the creation of organisms alive in the laboratory, the improvement of the human being through new technologies and "babies à la carte". This activity challenges the public to position themselves in favor or against through their vote in an online application or in person at the fair. Salvador Macip, doctor, researcher, writer and disseminator, will lead six debates on these three bioethical challenges with the participation of 120 students who have previously worked on the activity in the classroom.
The exhibition is co-organized by the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) and eduCaixa / Obra Social "la Caixa", with the support of the Ministry of Economy, FECYT and the Barcelona City Council.
