Manon Lescaut, the first great triumph of Puccini, is a lyrical drama in four acts inspired by the novel "L'historie du chevalier des Grieux et de Manon Lescaut" (1731) by Abbot Prévost. It tells the story of the rise and fall of the courtesan Manon and was written with a rapturous music, following the principles of verism. The role of Des Grieux will be interpreted by three great tenors, the American Gregory Kunde, the Spanish Jorge de León and the Puerto Rican Rafael Davila. They are joined by two sopranos of international fame for the main role, the Ukrainian Ludmyla Monastyrska and the Italian Maria Pia Piscitelli.

El Grec de Barcelona is a festival of theater, dance, music, circus and, for the first time, cinema, with a long tradition (this year marks the 42nd edition). It is not only the main cultural attraction of the Barcelona summer, but also a reference in the European calendar of festivals.
