The sculptures of Nadine Wottke (Erfurt, Germany, 1978) are presented for the first time in Spain. The works of the artist , made of porcelain, cause in the observer an unsettling sense, be opposed to such a common material (which is inevitably connected with decorative figures), as well as a daring tale: The figures of Nadine Wottke laugh at themselves, dress up, show a playful choking, are annoyed about inflatable doll ... But beyond this first impression, we recognize that nothing of it is perverse and it is more a naive game.
Together with the sculptures of Nadine Wottke are presented a selection of drawings and watercolors by Sito Mujica (Sabadell, 1971). Most of the works have not been seen before in Barcelona. In his works a shift towards virtuosity can be seen and in his latest works the need to go beyond the portrait. Mújica’s universe is a world of textures, details, blank stares and close-ups that transcend us. Sito draws with watercolors and gets some surprising formal results. Hard to believe how you can get the effect of worn out jeans with a small brush and watercolors.
