On the weekend of March 8 and 9, Poble Espanyol will host the 3rd edition of the San Miguel GastroFest Km0, a gastronomic festival that celebrates the culinary richness of Catalonia with a selection of 20 dishes made with local products. In addition, attendees will be able to enjoy a great calçotada, one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the season.
10 restaurants from Barcelona, its metropolitan area and other regions of Catalonia will offer their best creations with ingredients from the region's Designation of Origin (D.O.) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGI). The event will also feature the participation of renowned chefs in workshops and showcookings organized in collaboration with Cuina magazine.
Among the featured products are:
- Delta del Ebro rice (D.O.P.): a round grain rice grown in the Ebro Delta, appreciated for its great capacity to absorb flavors, ideal for mellow rice dishes and paellas.
- Cheese from Alt Urgell and Cerdanya (PDO): a semi-cured cow's milk cheese with a creamy texture and a smooth and balanced flavor, produced in the Catalan Pyrenees.
- Gallo Negro del Penedès (PGI): a slow-growing chicken with tender and tasty meat, traditionally raised in the Penedès region.
- Manzana de Girona (I.G.P.): crisp and sweet apples, grown in the Girona region with sustainable techniques that guarantee their quality.
- Aceites de Catalunya (D.O.P.): extra virgin olive oils from various Catalan designations of origin, with varieties such as arbequina, which provide fruity and smooth nuances.
- Veal from the Catalan Pyrenees (PGI): pasture-raised veal raised in the Pyrenees, with tender and tasty meat, ideal for stews and traditional dishes.
The Plaça Major del Poble Espanyol will be transformed into a large gastronomic market where visitors will be able to pair these delicacies with different San Miguel beers. In addition to the culinary offerings, the event will feature live music, DJ sessions, contests, a producers' market and family activities, making it a must-attend experience for lovers of Catalan gastronomy and culture.
General admission costs from 6,00 € and includes a drink. The calçotada menu is priced from 25,00 € and the dishes cost between 6,00 and 10,00 €.
