Jules Verne 200 has had its world premiere in Barcelona, at the IDEAL Digital Arts Center. The Festival of La Barceloneta is celebrated around September 29, the day of San Miguel, and combines tradition and culture of the seaside neighborhood. Highlights include sardana auditions, singing habaneras on the beach, correfocs, and parades with the giants Pep Barceló and María la Nieta. The famous "pasacalle del cañón" is very popular among children, as a cannon shoots candy. In addition, the neighbors decorate some streets and organize activities such as music and dances. The festival is a reflection of the historical identity of La Barceloneta.

During the second half of September, Barcelona celebrates every year "La Mercè", that is, its Fiesta Mayor. A Fiesta Mayor that we could define as a festival of festivals, multitudinous and popular, which in one week brings together between 1,500,000 and 2,000,000,000 people in different public spaces of the city, to follow and enjoy the many cultural, artistic and festive activities. This year's town crier will be the illustrator, painter and sculptor Carme Solé Vendrell and the guest city will be Casablanca. The Sitges Film Festival was born in 1968 under the name of the 1st International Week of Horror and Fantastic Cinema, and is considered the first fantastic film festival in the world.
